ARTIST STATEMENT

Bruce Robert Coffin's artistic creations are borne out of all things Maine. Whether passing an old lobster shack in Cape Porpoise, strolling along a timeless Main Street in Bridgton or jogging with the gulls as the sun majestically rises over Portland. His detail rich and sometimes surreal paintings gracefully reflect the essence of life in the Pine Tree State.

Bruce has displayed his art in numerous gallery exhibitions and public shows. Many of his paintings are commissioned works which now hang in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Eleven of Bruce-s paintings are available as signed limited and open edition prints.

In 2004, one of Bruce-s original works, "In Dry Dock (Cape Porpoise)" was chosen by Blacksmith's Winery to be the label art for their 2000 cabernet sauvignon.

In 2008, Bruce was awarded a first prize in the professional category at the 2nd annual City of Portland "National Arts Program" exhibit for his entry "Back Bay Sunrise."

Bruce is currently represented by Little Sebago Gallery and Frame in North Windham, Maine and by Casco Bay Frame and Gallery in Portland, Maine.

Five artists & co-workers celebrate a vibrant & diverse exhibit that reveals many different aspects of the local art scene ... from daily paintings to watercolors & photography to oil paintings & collage work. Staff members include Tony Cox (store owner), Elizabeth & Michael Fraser (siblings), Emily Johnson & Holly Karolkowski (store manager). What makes this show extraordinary is the unique & wonderful dynamic between these 5 artists who breathe & work art--their energy & enthusiasm can be felt upon walking though the door.

The Casco Bay Frames Employee Art Show began as a way to boost shop morale and a way to introduce customers to a different side of the design team & framers, 9 years later, the Employee Art Show has evolved into so much more. With seasoned and emerging artists on staff who share a long history with one another & their customers, TODAY, the Employee Art Show is about showcasing a talented group of Maine artists and giving the community an opportunity to view their recent work.
