Staff members include Tony Cox (store owner), Elizabeth & Michael Fraser (siblings), Emily Johnson & Holly Karolkowski (store manager). What makes this show extraordinary is the unique & wonderful dynamic between these 5 artists who breathe & work art--their energy & enthusiasm can be felt upon walking though the door. The Casco Bay Frames Employee Art Show began as a way to boost shop morale and a way to introduce customers to a different side of the design team & framers, 9 years later, the Employee Art Show has evolved into so much more. With seasoned and emerging artists on staff who share a long history with one another & their customers, TODAY, the Employee Art Show is about showcasing a talented group of Maine artists and giving the community an opportunity to view their recent work. An artists opening reception will be featured on Portland Maine’s First Friday, August 3rd, 2007 from 5pm-8pm. About the Artists. Sara Delilah Cox has recently begun to make pottery after taking a three-year break to pursue a full time career in social work. She is most well known for her decorative functional pottery that she created from 1990 to 2001, which she sold at her Portland store front, Delilah Pottery. Since moving to Bowdoinham in 2004, her new work is inspired by her rural surroundings. From pantaloons to Chickadees, her original style has evolved while maintaining it's playful flair.
Catherine Worthington- is a textile artist living with her husband and three boys in Brunswick, Maine. She has a BFA in textile design, and works part time at Spindleworks where she has been an artist mentor for thirteen years. She spends her remaining time either at home working in her studio designing and painting fabric and making textile art or teaching textile workshops. Her art quilts are part of many private collections and have been exhibited locally and throughout the state. The inspiration for her work comes mostly from nature with its natural beauty, color, patterns and texture. She is drawn to the sea and the creatures that live there and also abstract landscapes, seascapes and sunsets in which she tries to create a feeling or a familiar place for the viewer to escape.”

Kirk Rogers Astrophotogrphy featured on WCSH 207
About the Artist Photography by Kirk M. Rogers covers an extraordinary range – from the splendors of the night sky to the exquisite detail of a wood duck’s feathers. A Portland, Maine-based construction executive by profession, Rogers travels with his cameras and astrophotography equipment, whether flying for business or touring the U.S. and Canada on his Harley Davidson. His images of landscapes, birds and the night sky are further enhanced by his refined print processing, winsome titles and attractive framings and presentations. Over the past decade, Rogers has compiled a portfolio to rival some of the great American landscape and naturalist photographers. Never far from the ocean which informs much of his work, Kirk was born on the submarine base in New London, Connecticut in 1953. When not out on the trail of his next great photographic subject, Kirk resides in Portland, Maine where among his varied interests he pursues study of the American Civil War and family genealogy. He is a founding member and Director of Southern Maine Astronomers and a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. For more on Kirk’s photography and to view or purchase his photographs, contact the terrific staff at Casco Bay Frames www.cascobayframes.com or visit him on the web at ‘A Shot in the Dark’ www.kiroastro.com. Treasures, Trinkets, & The Mermaid’s Tail Two Local Artists Share Their Latest Wares
Artists Sandi Ste. George of Harpswell and Susan Tuttle of Bowdoinham are coming together this fall to present an eclectic mix of their latest works at Portland’s own Casco Bay Frames—The Gallery. Ste. George’s love of the sea and fascination with mermaids is evident in her artwork. She uses brightly colored pencil drawings, clay and plaster masks decorated with found beach objects, and mosaic panels to celebrate these mystical creatures. Tuttle considers herself to be a mixed media artist who has particular interests in collage with vintage imagery, assemblage, altered art, and abstract painting. She states, “I love color, texture, and playing with various mediums to express whatever happens to be in my heart and mind in the moment.” Some of her work will be published this winter in a book entitled Kaleidoscope: Projects and Ideas to Spark Your Creativity (North Light Books, March 2007). Both artists look forward to having you join them at their opening reception, Friday, November 3rd 5-8pm at The Gallery at Casco Bay Frames at Back Cove Hannaford Plaza, Portland. Light food and drink will be served. The show runs from November 1-30th. Contact Tony for more information at 774-1260 or tony@cascobayframes.com
